6 Church
in COLLABORATION with Barry Jacob
Situated on the Hudson River, the Church Street property is a four-bedroom house originally constructed around 1865. This project encompasses a renovation of the main house and a kitchen/ dining room addition that pays homage to the form of the original structure and roof pitch. The original house is in white, the addition is in black, celebrating the historic similarities and differences simultaneously.
The renovation of the original house aims to protect and celebrate the layers of history that define its character while leaving space for the next generation of habitation. Delaminating decades of wallpaper, uncovering the original handcrafted Dutch details originating from the sleuth captain that built it along with uncovering artifacts and proof of previous inhabitants add to the rich narrative of this renovation/ restoration project.
The town of Coxsackie, once a bustling port along the Hudson River, is now amidst a renaissance to endure the next century. New businesses, industry and NYC expats promises its regeneration and revitalization.
